ABP: FG targets 40,000 rice farmers in Kano-RIFAN


The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has advised Nigerian parents to ensure a good education for their children to promote an egalitarian society.
The minister gave the advice in Ilorin yesterday during the thanksgiving service for Mrs Ruth Adeleye’s 87th birthday at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.
The celebrant is the mother of a longtime minister’s aide, Williams Adeleye,
The minister, while addressing the gathering, thanked the octogenarian for his guidance all the time, adding that he had long since joined the celebrant’s list of children due to his long-standing relationship with the family. .
“I listened to the sermon, I’m glad I picked a couple things to take home.
“As the officiating minister said, it is good that all Nigerians always appreciate God in all things.
“I appreciate the man of God for his prayers for Nigeria and thank Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ilorin,” the minister said.
Mohammed said that after listening to the reading of the celebrant’s biography, one can understand that with determination, anyone can overcome any obstacle.
“It’s not when you become a millionaire that you want to thank God; at every stage of life, we must give thanks to God.
“I am happy that the children are celebrating their mother while she is still alive instead of spending a fortune after she is gone,” Mohammed said.
Earlier in his sermon, the officiating pastor, Reverend Taiye Adeola, urged all Nigerians to always appreciate God at all times.
Adeola took his sermon from the book of Psalm 118 vs 21-24, entitled: “The action of the Lord”.
He said, “All we are today is God’s goodness, yet we take it for granted.
“God is the source of all good things, that our mom is 87 today is the work of the Lord.
“If mum could question herself, she would realize that many of the people they started the journey with are no more, God made it possible.
“God has continued to show us his goodness and mercy and give us his blessings.
“May God keep you alive and protect your children are examples of the goodness of God in your life.”
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Mr. Buki Ponle and Mr. Segun Adeyemi, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Office of the Minister of Information and Culture ,
Others were the Director General of the National Arts and Culture Council, Otunba Segun Runsewe, and the Director General of the National Council of Film and Censors, Alhaji Thomas Adedayo.
Others were the Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Broadcasting Cooperation, Alhaji Bashir Bolarinwa, as well as directors of the Ministry of Information and Culture.
