Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stressed the importance of adopting advanced technologies for the farming community and the need to form more agricultural producer organizations in the country.
The minister was delivering the inaugural speech on a virtual platform during the nationwide campaign organized by the Coconut Development Council for Coconut Farmers with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare as part of of the Kisan Bhagidari Prathmika Hamari campaign under the Annadata Devo Bhava program.

He said the program is organized on a mission mode within the framework of eradicating poverty in the country from the village level. Under the Kisan Bhagidari Prathmika Hamari campaign under Annadata Devo Bhava, the government is trying to emphasize the importance of farmer participation.
Kailash Choudhary, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, urged farmers to take advantage of all programs put in place by the government and embrace technologies, new seeds and new varieties of developed cultures.
Krishi Vigyan Kendras from all over the country facilitated the participation of farmers in the program through the virtual mode. The Minister also interacted with farmers who had taken advantage of various benefits granted by the government.
About 200 coconut farmers and OPS members have participated in the program. The inauguration of the office building and farmer training center in the council’s DSP farm in Tripura was also part of the campaign.
A three-day virtual coconut products trade fair showcasing a variety of processed coconut products was also launched. 530 buyers and 50 sellers registered on the first day.
The Coconut Development Board also ran 14 programs in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Tripura and Lakshadweep under the campaign.
