AP Government committed to the welfare of farmers

Saying that the state government is committed to the welfare and development of farmers, Agriculture Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy denied the allegations by Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan and said people wouldn’t believe them.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the minister blasted the opposition TDP and Jana Sena, saying they were deliberately engaging in malicious propaganda to mislead the public and challenged them to prove their claims . Referring to Pawan Kalyan, he said he could not show a single farming family with CCRC cards that was left out by the government without paying compensation for loss of breadwinner. He said the government is paying Rs 7,00,000 as compensation even to families of sharecroppers with CCRC cards.

During Chandrababu’s tenure, farmer suicides went unrecognized and families were abandoned without any compensation. He said that Pawan Kalyan did not volunteer to visit farmers’ families during TDP even after not paying any compensation to relatives, and added that Pawan visiting the districts only benefited Chandrababu . The minister noted that the current government has compensated 471 farming families, who were left out during the TDP regime, and said that even sharecropper families were also compensated with Rs one lakh as insurance.

He said Chandrababu had no credibility, while Pawan had no character, and said part of the media always stood with the rivals in their malicious propaganda to mislead people. Clarifying that there are no agricultural holidays or declaration of drought areas, he said the government is providing water much earlier for the benefit of farmers. Unlike Chandrababu who did not give up agricultural loans and betrayed the farmers, the current government caters to all the needs of the farmers and helps them from seed to sale.
