APEDA, UAS-B and KAPPEC Organize Dragon Fruit Buyer-Seller Meeting in Bangalore

In order to promote the export of dragon fruits, the Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), in collaboration with Bangalore University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS-B) and Karnataka State Agricultural Produce Processing & Export Corporation (KAPPEC) held a “Dragon Fruit Buyer-Seller Meeting” at GKVK Campus, Bangalore.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. M Angamuthu, APEDA President said that more interaction with stakeholders will be done in the future and a reverse meeting of buyers and sellers will be organized for the promotion of dragon fruit and value-added products. to boost exports. He highlighted the collaboration with ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) for standardization of fruit parameters and value-added products to help the industry. The meeting brought together farmers, agricultural producer organizations (OPF) and exporters. Officials from JDGFT, KAPPEC and UAS-B were present at the event. Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, Vice Chancellor, UAS-B inaugurated the buyers-sellers meeting on dragon fruits.

APEDA, a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Government of India, is the nodal agency for the promotion of Indian Agribusiness and Food Exports and is responsible for facilitating and promoting the export of horticulture, floriculture, processed foods, poultry products, dairy products and other agricultural products.

APEDA has taken a number of export promotion activities and initiatives, developing virtual portals for organizing virtual trade fairs, farmer login portal, e-office, Hortinet traceability system , buyer-seller meetings, reverse buyer-seller meetings, campaigns among other related activities. APEDA works closely with state governments to create infrastructure and promote state exports.
