MANGALDAI :: Union State Minister for Labor and Employment and Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rameswar Teli has pledged to transform the ambitious Darrang district among the first few developed districts in the country. He was delivering his speech at the certificate distribution ceremony here at the District Library Auditorium on the last day of June 2 as part of his two-day visit to the District. “The district of Darrang is an ambitious district and this district has been put at the center of development initiatives.

The Prime Minister is trying to double the income of farmers. Our efforts are underway to connect the area to the gas pipeline whose benefits will soon be appreciated by the population. Our government is going to set up a bioethanol plant where people will find jobs. Also, a mini food park project is being implemented, which had been sanctioned when I was in the ministry of food processing. It will also create job opportunities,” said Minister Teli.

The Union Minister also stressed the need to develop the infrastructure of Orang National Park and the district’s tiger reserve to exploit its huge tourism potential. He further said that in the coming days, a total of seventy-five ponds will be dug in all districts of the state including Darrang under the Amrit Sarovar scheme. Later, the Union Minister solemnly started the process of handing over certificates and sanction letters to 750 recipients of various government programs under different departments on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Mangaldai MLA Basanta Das, Sipajhar MLA Dr. Paramananda Rajbangshi, Deputy Commissioner of Darrang Pranab Kumar Sarmah, senior officers and district heads from various departments were present on the occasion. Earlier on the first day of his visit, the Minister had attended the farewell ceremony of the two-day training program for workers in unorganized sectors organized by an agency under the Ministry of Labor and Employment here in Sanatan Dharma Sabha.
