Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, participated in ‘Yogotsav’ and addressed the countdown to the International Day of yoga 2022 in Rishikesh.
Addressing the Gangaghat gathering, Dr Balyan said Uttarakhand is the birthplace of yoga and there couldn’t be a better place to celebrate its rejuvenation. The Union minister says Prime Minister Narendra Modi has put yoga on the world map. Our country’s yoga instructors have been our cultural ambassadors to the world. He added that the international community now recognizes the value of yoga in promoting physical and psychological well-being.
The Union minister said the government is celebrating a 100-day countdown to International Yoga Day in 100 cities from March 13 to June 21, 2022. The Ministry of Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Today famous dairy industry “Yogotsav” in Somnath, Rishikesh, Kanyakumari. The Union minister called on the people to embrace yoga as a way of life.
Speaking about the problems plaguing the state of Uttarakhand, Dr. Balyan said migration away from the hills can be improved by complementing agriculture with animal husbandry. He added that the Union Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy has come a long way since 2014, when the overall budget was Rs 1,500 crore, till today. , when a foot and mouth disease vaccination sub-scheme spent Rs 12,500 crore. He urged the farmers present at the celebration to benefit from the programs providing a 50% subsidy to start breeding farms for cattle. Dr. Balyan said that the Union government strongly supports the herding community in Uttarakhand and will give all possible support to its growth.
Before the yoga session, Dr. Balyan visited the “Pashulok” farm and inaugurated the state laboratory for goats and sheep under the national livestock mission. He also exchanged with a delegation of progressive breeders. The event was also attended by cabinet ministers of the government of Uttarakhand Sh Subodh Uniyal and Sh Sourabh Bahuguna.
