PEDDAPALLI: Social Affairs Minister Koppula Eshwar has demanded that the BJP-led government in the center follow a one-nation policy.
Addressing a press conference during his visit to Peddapalli district on Wednesday, he pointed out that while the center buys all the paddy produced by Punjab and Haryana, it refuses to do the same with regard to Telangana. .
The minister pointed out that this amounts to discriminating between one region of the country and another, depending on what suits the interests of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the center. “Isn’t this tantamount to harassing the farmers of Telangana,” he asked.
Eshwar argued that the BJP behaves differently when it comes to states without disclosing the facts to people. Moreover, it blames states by making unnecessary claims. He said comments by BJP state leader Bandi Sanjay and other leaders on buying paddy raised doubts among people whether they belong to Telangana or other states.
The minister said that if the BJP government at the center stubbornly refuses to buy paddy from Telangana farmers, the TRS government led by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will announce its plan of action and undertake massive agitations in the coming days.
Zilla Parishad Chairman Putta Madhukar, Ramagundam Korakanti MP Chander Patel, Library Department Chairman Raghuveer Singh and ZPTCs Ram Murthy, Bandari Srinivas and Raj Kumar were among those present.
