Khattar bats for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Speaking before the Haryana Assembly during the discussion on the Call for Attention Motion presented by Kiran Choudhry, Abhay Chautala and other MPs in the House today, the CM said under PMFBY , compensation ranging from Rs 18,000 to Rs 35,000 is granted to them for insured crops .
Regarding damage to crops in Rabi due to recent rains and out-of-season hailstorms, Khattar said compensation of Rs 12,000 per acre has been given for loss of damaged crops in the absence of a scheme. insurance.
“Our government however increased this amount to Rs 15,000 per acre from this year. After crop insurance, the amount of compensation per acre granted to farmers is high, therefore, all MPs should motivate farmers to adopt Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana,” he added.
The CM also informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, farmers have to pay a premium of 2% and 5% depending on the crops, which is equivalent to Rs 500 to Rs 700 only. The balance of the bounty is borne by the central government and state governments, he said.
Khattar said the soil from the fields is lifted for the brick kiln or other uses and often the farmer himself lifts the soil from his field for commercial purposes such as building a road, of a canal or any other project requiring soil. Later, their ground level drops two to three feet compared to other neighboring fields and this becomes the main cause of waterlogging. The CM also called on members to motivate farmers to use these waterlogged fields for fishing.
