Minister and Officials Highlight Importance of AgriteQ and EnviroteQ in Promoting Cooperation in the Gulf

Doha: Minister of Environment and Climate Change HE Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani said that the sponsorship of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani for the 9th Qatar International Agricultural Expo (AgriteQ) and 3rd International Environmental Expo (EnviroteQ), affirms the breadth of unlimited state support for the agricultural and environmental sectors, pointing to Qatar’s many achievements in these two areas .

Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Minister noted the wide participation in the two expos at the local, international and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) levels, highlighting the tangible and significant outcomes and successes obtained by the previous sessions of agriculture and environment, in terms of quality exhibits and modern technologies in the fields of agriculture and environment, which left an excellent impression on all interested and participants of the importance of this event as well as the excellent results that emerge from each session.

He explained that local agricultural production, both crop and animal, in Qatar has reached high levels and high production rates, and the sufficiency of some basic products, which encourages the export of surplus to abroad, in line with the implementation of Qatar’s National Strategy for Environment and Climate Change, which was launched in October, a priority for the ministry.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia HE Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al Ayada stressed the importance of the agricultural and environmental exhibition and the wide participation in them both locally and internationally, noting that the Kingdom’s participation in the two exhibitions contributes to strengthening cooperation between the two. countries, in the process of circulation of goods between them, and in the exchange of experiences.

In a statement to QNA, he said Saudi Arabia is keen to participate in both expos, with dozens of exhibitors from all relevant private sector associations and companies, date farms, the Saudi Organic Agriculture Association , the Saudi Aquaculture Society and fishing companies. . Qatar and Saudi Arabia are working together to achieve cooperation in agriculture through exchanging experiences between the private and public sectors and ensuring the flow of goods between the two countries, he said. he adds.

The Undersecretary for Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of the Sultanate of Oman, HE Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, praised AgriteQ and EnviroteQ. He described the gathering and wide participation of companies specializing in agricultural and environmental fields in the two fairs as a pioneering and exemplary step, especially at the GCC level.

He also told QNA that the current two versions are seeing great development in terms of the number of participating and exhibiting countries, companies and entities, emphasizing the importance of such gatherings and meetings in improving the food safety system and agricultural production.

He said about 29 Omani companies from the private and public sectors are participating in the two expos, expressing the hope that Omani companies will enter into partnerships and cooperation agreements with their GCC counterparts to promote their products, as well as with businesses outside the region. select products from the world market to supply to Omani markets.

Speaker of the Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, praised AgriteQ, describing the expo as an important platform that provides businesspeople with an opportunity to learn on the latest innovations in the agricultural sector and explore the investment opportunities available in this sector, which is considered one of the most vital sectors attracting investment.

The Director of the Department of Food Security at the Ministry of Municipality, Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al Marri, underscored the importance of the expos in addressing global challenges in these areas and achieving food security by providing and adopting agricultural technologies modern at a reasonable cost. He added that the two exhibitions provide great opportunities for exchange of expertise and experiences between Qatari agricultural companies and their counterparts from other countries and to learn about modern technologies used in the agricultural field, such as those related to alternative energies and techniques for increasing production.
