Bagmati Province Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Basundhara Humagain stressed the need for sustainable development in the agricultural sector, as Bagmati Province contributes 17 percent to the overall agricultural production of the country.
Unveiling the 51-point roadmap for the ministry to execute in the 2021-2022 fiscal year at a press conference today, Minister Humagain said the roadmap was formulated to facilitate and render the agricultural sector of the productive and commercial province.
She expressed the belief that the road map, prepared within 10 days of her appointment as Minister of Agriculture, would maintain transparency in the activities and construction activities of physical infrastructure and the welfare of farmers. would be carried out on the basis of the needs of the province. and demand. The road map mentions the formulation of the law on agricultural development of the province, the establishment of the Poultry Development Council and the construction of a chemical fertilizer warehouse.
Likewise, digital technology will be introduced for soil analysis at the local level in order to make sense of the “healthy soils, the main route of agricultural production” campaign.
An incentive subsidy of two Rs per kg in the fixed minimum price of agricultural products will be provided, agricultural products will be purchased at the minimum support purchase price if agricultural products produced by farmers are not sold, and support for the Establishment of agricultural machinery industry are also mentioned in the roadmap.
The roadmap also spoke of the formulation of a separate policy to promote fisheries.
