KUCHING, March 31 – The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) has allocated some RM150 million to implement various programs in all agriculture, fisheries and livestock sub-sectors in Sarawak.

In a statement released today, MAFI said that of this amount, RM53.8 million has been allocated this year to implement the Federal Government’s Paddy Fertilizer Program (SBPKP), the subsidy program of Paddy Incentive (SIPP), Subsidy Paddy Price Program (SSHP) and Huma/Hill. Paddy Fertilizer and Pesticide Program (SBRPB).

The statement was released after Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee paid a courtesy call on Sarawak Prime Minister Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

According to the statement, MAFI will also pay heed to the state government’s request to help strengthen Sarawak’s agricultural infrastructure, particularly agribusiness, to attract more private investment to achieve sustainable production. large scale.

The courtesy call was part of Ronald’s inaugural visit to Sarawak since holding the portfolio, beginning with a visit to the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Tuesday) Kuching before holding an engagement session with state agrifood industry players.

Sarawak Agriculture Modernization and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi Anak Utom, MAFI Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Hamzah, Sarawak Agriculture Modernization and Regional Development Deputy Minister Maclaine Ben and Bernas Datuk Chairman Seri Rouhani Karim were also present during the visit.

Ronald will continue his program tomorrow with a visit to Batang Lupar Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), a visit to large-scale paddy cultivation sites at Stumbin and Tanjung Bijat in Sri Aman, about 190 km from here.
