Mizoram: Union Minister – Smriti Irani convenes meeting in Lunglei; Reviews progress of center-sponsored programs

Union Minister for Women and Child Development (WCD) and Minority Affairs – Smriti Zubin Irani today convened a meeting with various departments in Lunglei District of Mizoram; reviews the progress of various central government projects in the North Eastern State.

Speaking to Atal Bhavan media in Aizawl, the minister said she called on Lunglei district officials to fully understand central government programs and how these benefits can be transferred directly to their bank accounts, ensuring that every individual among the most disadvantaged members of the community would be served.

She instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Lunglei (DC) – Kulothungan A, to organize a special retirement camp in the district so that widows, disabled people and all other beneficiaries eligible for benefits from social welfare schemes can be identified in each block. and get the support you need.

In addition, she also highlighted the need for an integrated agriculture approach within the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries; thereby ensuring that every farmer enjoys the benefits of the “Kisan Credit Card”.

Irani also urged Lunglei DC to identify school dropouts, especially for girls; at which the DC has assured that the matter will be addressed and assessed.

The Union Minister expressed her gratitude that upon her arrival in the state after nine years, it was evident that party members were committed to the cause of strengthening India’s relationship with the northern state -is.
