Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for coming to the aid of farmers by deciding to procure paddy even as the Center reneged on its promise. A resolution to this effect was proposed by Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy during the 21st TRS Training Day celebrations held here on Wednesday.
Introducing the resolution, Niranjan Reddy said the Chief Minister had instilled confidence among farmers by launching the paddy supply exercise and calling on them not to sell distressed stocks. “Even after apologizing to the farming community for the three proposed farm bills, the Narendra Modi government has not changed its anti-farmer policy by refusing to buy paddy produced in Telangana,” Niranjan Reddy charged.
Although the central government had insisted on the installation of meters at pumps in agricultural wells under the guise of energy reforms, the chief minister had said that no matter what, the meters would not be installed in Telangana, said the minister, adding “this proves that the TRS government was a farmer-friendly government”
