Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal says government has no plans to give wheat bounties
Haryana Agriculture Minister JP Dalal said the government has no plans to give wheat bounties.
“Not only wheat, but the prices of many crops, including mustard and cotton, are the highest on record. There is no arrival of wheat in the mandis of the southern districts. And for now, there are no plans to give bonuses on wheat. This decision is taken after review by the Centre,” the minister said when asked about farmers’ protests at the request of ₹Premium of 500 per quintal of wheat to compensate for poor performance.
“As a farmer, I am happy that the prices of agricultural products and wheat fodder have increased and that farmers are benefiting from it,” he added.
He said poll results from Punjab and Uttar Pradesh revealed so-called jathedars (leaders of agricultural unions) as farmers rejected them.
“Samyukta Kisan Morcha should not raise his issues in Haryana as the state government already provides the best facilities to its farmers and many schemes have been started for their welfare,” he added.
The Minister held a meeting with officials from the Karnal market committee office. He said the government ensured payment within 72 hours of buying wheat.
