Following a complaint from farmers in Jugani village in Keshkal assembly constituency on Saturday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel ordered the construction of a new check dam. He also asked officials to probe why a check dam on the Bhavardig River collapsed.
Farmers told Baghel during his visit to Baden Dongar that a check dam was built on the Bhavardig River two years ago for irrigation purposes. It was to benefit about 600 farmers.
But right after construction, the stop dam crashed. Farmers have since been deprived of a source of water for irrigation. The Chief Minister announced the construction of a new one and ordered a probe.
The farmers were also looking for a maize processing unit and a cooperative bank. Baghel announced the opening of the bank in Bade Dongar.
The chief minister had declared Bade Dongar as sub-tehsil on January 27. On Saturday, he inspected the subtehsil’s office and called for a speedy resolution of all cases. He gave an e-shram card and a health card to the beneficiaries.
During the interaction, 39 Amgaon farmers requested a power connection for an irrigation pump. This was granted by the Chief Minister.
The OBC community of Korai Gram Panchayat applied for a land title deed. Baghel asked the collector to award it according to the rules.
Farmer Shankarlal Shardul said the Congress government’s loan exemption decision helped him as his loan of Rs 5 lakh was cancelled. Now he had procured two tractors, making farming a better prospect.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that the primary health center in Baden Dongar will be transformed into a community health center, the opening of a Swami Atmanand English Middle School in Kongud, the construction of a Mangal Bhawan and construction of a bridge over the drain on Ghotiamunda. He also approved proposed new works in the Danteshwari temple in Badadongar and new school buildings in various locations.
