Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a “natural farming conclave” via video conference on Sunday.
The conclave is being held in Surat, Gujarat and will see the participation of thousands of farmers and all other stakeholders who have made the adoption of natural farming in Surat a success story, the PMO said in a statement.
He noted that Modi, in his address to a Gujarat panchayat congregation in March, had urged at least 75 farmers from each village to embrace natural farming.
Surat district has undertaken a concerted effort to sensitize and motivate different stakeholders and institutions such as farmer groups, elected officials, agricultural marketing committees, cooperatives and banks to assist farmers.
Therefore, at least 75 farmers have been identified in each gram panchayat and have been motivated and trained to undertake natural farming. Farmers have been trained in 90 different groups, which has trained more than 41,000 farmers across the district, the PMO said.
