Thermal infrared imaging allows measurement of water-related characteristics such as plant evapotranspiration, drought impact, providing intelligent crop monitoring.

ScanWorld (Belgium), a SPACEBEL hyperspectral imaging initiative specializing in Earth observation AgriTech applications, has merged with ConstellR (Germany), a pioneer in the use of thermal infrared monitoring services for agricultural purposes. ConstellR has acquired ScanWorld and will develop in Belgium while SPACEBEL has become a shareholder of ConstellR alongside the founders of the start-up, Amathaon and OHB.

Following their commercial merger since September 2021, the two NewSpace companies have decided to officially join forces under the ConstellR banner. By combining their complementary remote sensing technologies, the aim is to become a major European game changer in “beyond the visual” data services covering all the needs of digital agriculture.

  • Thermal infrared imaging allows measurement of water-related characteristics such as plant evapotranspiration, drought impact, providing intelligent crop monitoring.
  • Hyperspectral data is a key tool for soil organic carbon estimation, early disease identification, water and fertilizer management. All of these contribute to optimizing inputs, maximizing yield and promoting environmental stewardship.

Thierry du Pré-Werson, CEO of SPACEBEL Explain : “Merging ScanWorld into ConstellR is THE solution to effectively achieve the ultimate goal that ScanWorld represents, i.e. tackling global issues in the field of sustainable agriculture, forestry and environmental monitoring. environment. In the meantime, thanks to this synergy, ScanWorld will notably be able to accelerate its growth, develop its constellation of small satellites and access emerging markets.

As a new shareholder of ConstellR, SPACEBEL is happy to contribute to this innovative dimension because it allows us to strengthen our deployment in Europe while indirectly offering us the opportunity to contribute to building a sustainable future for our planet Earth and its inhabitants.
